"The news about the outbreak of the war hit everyone hard. We were overwhelmed by uncertainty and fear. The educational institutions were closed, in the first days no one knew what we were supposed to do. Many left the country while they still could to avoid recruitment into the army. Families were torn apart, which has remained so in many cases to this day. This situation was typical for our teachers as well. There are several among us whose husbands and sons have not been home since the outbreak of the war. Wives and mothers travel to see family members on holidays and long weekends. Those who have their husbands at home are worried about him falling into the hands of recruiters somewhere. Despite all that, those of us who stayed at home try to keep carrying out our daily tasks: we teach and educate.
Shelters had to be created in all institutions. We spent a lot of time there during the air raids. Nevertheless, reforms are underway in education, the requirements are increasing, and we are preparing students for academic competitions. The results achieved there mean a certain sense of accomplishment. On a daily basis, we try to live and work in such a way that the school doesn’t become any place of fight. Although the future promises us little good.
We wish you all God's blessing and good health. Thank you for your interest and support.
We wish you a peaceful Christmas.
With friendly greetings: the teachers of the Kisdobronyi Lyceum"

"I experience the war as a curse, as it tore several families apart. Our family was also divided since the war, as my father was forced to work abroad. He is 13 hours away by train, so we mainly keep in touch by phone. It is likely that I will also continue my studies there, because I don't see any opportunities in front of me at home. Due to the war many people died, many children live their lives without a father.
After the war, online education was introduced, which many children liked because it was more relaxed. (12-20 hour long blackouts were a common thing - editor's addition) Personally, I didn't like it at all. In classroom learning we can be together with our friends and classmates, and there is more discipline.
I hope that soon the whole family will be together again and we will be able to live a happy, full life. We hope that the war will not last long."
Said by a 14 - year old girl
How has our life changed? Before the war, my father was at home, and there were no power outages, no need to go to a shelter. Since this terrible war hit us, almost everything has changed to the opposite. Me, my mother and my siblings stayed at home, but my father had to go abroad and started working there.
For a while, the school was also closed and we had distance education. When we came back to school, there were a lot of air raids. Because of this, we had to go down to the air-raid shelters, where it was cold and very dark.
Fortunately, we started the eighth grade with regular classroom education, and we spent a lot of time with my father in the summer.
Last winter was very cold and dark, we hope this will not happen this year. Since there was no electricity, not everyone could heat, and neither could we. We had to turn on a generator that runs on gasoline. But gas was also hard to come by and became very expensive.
I hope this terrible situation will be over soon, my dad can come home and the whole family will finally be together!
The story of a 13 year old boy
Since the war broke out, my father hasn’t been able to join us going out anywhere. We are afraid that he would be recruited and sent to the war as a soldier. That's why he can't even go to work.
When the power outages occurred and the price of gas and natural gas went up, the school was also closed and we continued to study online.
Then we came back to school, but often we sat in the air-raid shelter almost the whole day. Learning was therefore difficult.
My family and I wanted to go on a trip to many places, but since my father can't drive on the border, we couldn't go anywhere.
Fortunately, there are no more power outages. But gasoline, gas and food are still very expensive. I really want the war to end and everything to be the way it used to be.
Thoughts of a 12 year old girl
It was very difficult in the beginning because of power cuts and food shortages due to the war, but now it is easier. The school was also closed, so we studied online. I couldn't meet my friends and it was harder to understand the curriculum. When we came back to school, we spent a lot of time in the shelters because of the air raids. It was cold and dark there. There was no internet either. We had to dress warmly. The teachers tried to help us catch up with school when we fell behind.
Fortunately, my father can be at home, he didn't have to go abroad. However, many of my relatives are abroad and cannot return home until the war ends. I really hope it ends soon.
Message from a 15 year old boy
"God is by our side, and this is a resource that really shows up in times of trouble. The path of faith is similar to when Peter walked on water."
